Wagner, a former lottery pick selected at No. 8 overall in the 2021 NBA Draft, is approaching the offseason when he becomes eligible for a rookie scale extension. Currently, he stands as Orlando’s second-leading scorer, just behind Paolo Banchero. The 22-year-old German has been delivering impressive performances in the 2023/24 season, achieving career-high averages in multiple categories, including points (21.3), rebounds (6.0), assists (4.0), and steals (1.2) per game across 33 appearances, with an average playing time of 34.2 minutes.

Remarkably durable throughout his career thus far, Wagner played in 79 games during his rookie season and participated in all 80 games last season. However, this recent ankle sprain has disrupted his streak of consecutive games played in the 2023/24 season.

The extent of Wagner’s absence from future games will depend on the severity of the ankle sprain, and more details on his recovery timeline are expected to be released as additional information becomes available.
