St. Michael-Albertville High School Robotics Team Clinches Fifth Place at World Championship

The robotics squad from St. Michael-Albertville High School is basking in glory following their remarkable fifth-place finish at the World Championship this past weekend.

Comprising 38 talented students, the team journeyed to Houston, Texas, to vie with 600 other teams hailing from various corners of the globe. Their mission: to construct robots capable of executing designated tasks within strict time constraints.

With over 50,000 attendees representing 50 countries, the event was a showcase of innovation and skill on a global scale.

Distinguished by their exceptional performance, the team secured fifth place overall and claimed the title of “Curie” division champions, triumphing over 70 formidable opponents in their division.

Upon their return home, the team received a warm welcome from classmates, teachers, and parents, with 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS capturing the joyous reunion on Sunday evening.

STMA Schools Superintendent Ann-Marie Foucault expressed gratitude to the coaches, mentors, and students, acknowledging their dedication and pride in representing their school.

Reflecting on their achievement, team member Sydney Gasser remarked, “It’s pretty crazy, we’re really grateful for the experience to be able to play with some of the best teams in the world so it’s really cool.”

Coach Zack Osowski shared his pride in the team’s accomplishment, noting their determination to reach the playoffs and surpassing expectations by clinching the trophy.

Another team member, Grace Kirk, marveled at their journey from adversity to triumph, highlighting their resilience in overcoming challenges to achieve success on the world stage.

In the annals of St. Michael-Albertville High School’s robotics history, this achievement stands as a testament to the team’s talent, perseverance, and indomitable spirit.
