Following in the footsteps of Apple Music and Spotify, YouTube Music is now releasing its 2023 Recap. This comprehensive summary continues the personalized storytelling format introduced last year.
For Android or iOS users, simply tap on your profile avatar located in the top-right corner and access “Your Recap.” Click on “Get your Recap” to experience the entire story or utilize the carousel to navigate to specific sections.
YouTube Music
YouTube Music (YTM) initiates the recap by highlighting the total minutes of music listened to and the variety of artists explored throughout 2023. Your top five musicians are showcased with additional details, including the number of hours spent, the total number of songs played, the “longest listening streak,” and whether you fall into the echelon of top listeners.
Introducing a new feature this year called “Your Album Cover,” YTM extracts colors from your top tracks, akin to Dynamic Color theming. This color scheme is complemented by a matching font and image to enhance the overall visual experience.
The YouTube Music 2023 Recap then provides insights into the total number of songs played throughout the year, featuring the top five songs, playlists, and albums.
Explore the music moods that “match your real feels this year,” categorized into beginning, middle, and end periods, along with another top five list. The integration with Google Photos is retained. Additionally, a genre breakdown and a final summary breakdown are included. Some pages feature buttons for quick download or sharing, but users can always opt for screenshotting.
While the auto-generated playlist of top songs is not yet available, the YouTube Music 2023 Recap has been gradually rolling out over the past day.
