At this year’s CMA Awards, a heartfelt tribute to the late Joe Diffie was delivered by a trio comprising Post Malone, Morgan Wallen, and Hardy. Wallen and Hardy commenced with an emotive rendition of Diffie’s 1993 track “John Deere Green,” later inviting Malone to join them on stage for a moving rendition of Diffie’s 1994 hit “Pickup Man.”
Though Post Malone is predominantly recognized for his work in hip-hop and pop, his affection for country music has been evident through his covers of various country songs, including Brad Paisley’s “I’m Gonna Miss Her (The Fishin’ Song),” Sturgill Simpson’s “You Can Have the Crown,” and Hank Williams’ “There’s a Tear in My Beer.” Moreover, in 2022, he graced the stage with Billy Strings for a stirring live performance of Johnny Cash’s “Cocaine Blues.”

In 2023, Hardy released his much-anticipated country album, “The Mockingbird and the Crow,” which featured Wallen. Prior to the ceremony, it was revealed that his collaboration with Lainey Wilson, “Wait in the Truck,” clinched early CMAs for musical event of the year and music video of the year. Wilson, who received the most nominations this year, ultimately secured the prestigious title of entertainer of the year as the telecast drew to a close.
The 37th edition of the CMAs saw the return of Luke Bryan and Peyton Manning as hosts, and the evening was further enriched by stellar collaborations such as Jelly Roll and K. Michelle, Old Dominion and Megan Moroney, Carly Pearce and Chris Stapleton, and Tanya Tucker and Little Big Town.
The stage was graced with enchanting performances by various country music luminaries, including Kelsea Ballerini’s rendition of “Leave Me Again,” Dan + Shay’s captivating performance of “Save Me the Trouble,” and Luke Bryan’s spirited No. 1 hits medley, among other delightful acts.
