Verizon has reached an agreement to resolve a class-action lawsuit accusing the company of imposing administrative fees without adequate disclosure to its customers. While Verizon denies any wrongdoing, the settlement involves a $100 million compensation fund for affected customers.
If you qualify for a share of the settlement, Verizon will contact you via email or mail with instructions on how to apply for compensation. The application process must be completed before April 15, 2024. The communication will include a Notice ID and Confirmation code for submitting a claim on Verizon’s official website.
Customers have the option to pursue individual legal action against Verizon instead of participating in the settlement. To opt-out, individuals must send a written letter to Verizon Administrative Charge Settlement Administrator, Attn: Exclusions, P.O. Box 58220, Philadelphia, PA 1910.
The letter must be postmarked before Feb. 20, 2024. Failure to opt-out or apply for compensation will result in the forfeiture of the right to sue Verizon and the corresponding settlement funds.
Verizon anticipates a minimum payment of $15 for each customer, with potential payouts reaching up to $100 per person based on the duration of Verizon subscription and the number of eligible customers who file claims. Payments will be distributed through either checks or electronic transfers.
