“Tyler Lady Lions Conclude Undefeated District Run with Senior Night Triumph”

The Tyler Lady Lions capped off their remarkable journey through District 15-5A basketball with a resounding victory on Senior Night at the Lions Den. In a standout performance, sophomore Bralyah Miller achieved a double-double, while senior A’Niya Hartsfield and junior Kalyse Buffin also contributed double-digit scores. The Lady Lions dominated Texas High with a final score of 70-45, concluding their league play with an impressive 14-0 record.

Tyler’s first-year Coach Bobby Reynolds expressed his pride, stating, “This accomplishment is by far one of the best moments I’ve had, but we are not done.” The Lady Lions, now on a 20-game winning streak, boast a season record of 28-9 and are eager to carry their momentum into the state playoffs. Coach Reynolds emphasized the team’s hunger and excitement for the upcoming challenges.

Before the game, seniors A’Niya Hartsfield and Samora Hines were honored for their contributions both on and off the court. The Lady Lions will now advance to the bi-district round, facing District 16-5A fourth-place finisher Lufkin. The much-anticipated matchup is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Monday at Cushing High School.

Texas High, with a record of 16-10, concludes its district play in a tie for third place with Whitehouse (23-10) at 9-5. Despite the tie, Texas High secures the fourth spot and is set to play Huntsville in the bi-district round. The Ladycats, having won the tiebreaker by defeating the Lady Tigers, will face New Caney Porter in their bi-district matchup.

In the impressive victory against Texas High, Bralyah Miller led the scoring with 24 points, showcasing her prowess with five 3-pointers and securing 12 rebounds. Senior A’Niya Hartsfield and junior Kalyse Buffin each contributed 10 points, with Buffin also grabbing eight rebounds and Hartsfield making key contributions in steals and rebounds.

The Lady Lions displayed a balanced scoring effort, with LaTajia Hambrick, Jer’Miya Rice, Bra’Shia Miller, Ma’Kayla Taylor, and Amori Gee all making valuable contributions. The team’s proficiency in both free throws and 3-pointers showcased their versatility on the court.

Taryne Stiger, a 5-10 sophomore, led the Lady Tigers with an impressive 27 points and seven rebounds. However, Texas High faced challenges at the free-throw line and struggled from beyond the arc, allowing the Lady Lions to secure a convincing victory.

As the Lady Lions march into the bi-district round, their stellar performance and unwavering determination set the stage for an exciting playoff journey.
