OnePlus 10 Pro Promised To Stay Zippy For Three Years

OnePlus says its next flagship is the first in the smartphone industry to get the TUV SUD Fluency A-Level certification for sustained performance.

OnePlus says its upcoming flagship will stay smooth and zippy for at least 36 months, thanks to a “fluency” certification bestowed upon the OnePlus 10 Pro by TUV SUD. Set to make its official debut on Jan. 11, the OnePlus 10 Pro is not much of a secret at this point. In fact, the company itself has revealed all the key specifications, official renders and live product shots of its next high-end phone.

The design has sharply divided opinions, especially over the vast camera island with a contrasting glossy black finish. OnePlus appears to have taken the Samsung Galaxy S21’s design as a template and stretched it to cover more area of the rear panel. The classic Sandstone finish is back on the black trim, while the version with a green paint job appears to have a subdued glittery look.

While the looks and specifications have drawn out a mixed response, OnePlus has disclosed a rather exciting detail about its next flagship. In an official Weibo post, the company shared that the OnePlus 10 Pro is the industry’s first phone to receive the A-Level ranking on what it calls a 36-month fluency certification test by TUV SUD. For the unaware, TUV SUD is a technical solution provider that offers inspection and certification services for a wide range of hardware, including consumer electronics gadgets. One of its most well-known smartphone-related certifications comes from TUV Rheinland that tests the eye comfort level offered by a smartphone’s screen.

A Reassuring Promise

OnePlus hasn’t revealed in-depth technical parameters about the tests conducted for the aforementioned “fluency” certification, but the poster suggests these “anti-aging” analyses are done in a laboratory by simulating real-life usage scenarios. However, it also comes with a standard warning. Even though the phone has been certified to offer a fluid experience for three years, a user’s smartphone activity pattern will affect things in the long run. For example, downloading malware-heavy junk and uncertified apps from third-party repositories is a sure pathway to slow down a phone, and so is overflowing internal storage. However, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip at the heart of the OnePlus 10 Pro will keep things zippy for at least a couple of years without much afterthought.

The rest of the internal hardware also screams top-tier. The OnePlus 10 Pro’s flagship Qualcomm chip will be ticking alongside 12GB of fast LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The 5,000mAh battery supports 80W fast and 50W wireless charging, while the OLED panel offers a 120Hz refresh rate. The imaging hardware includes a 48-megapixel primary camera, a 50-megapixel ultrawide shooter with a 150-degree field of view, and an 8-megapixel telephoto camera. The camera hardware is backed by Hasselblad software tricks, while the ColorOS 12.1 skin based on Android 12 will handle the UI part.
