Godzilla’s TV Show Can Reveal The MonsterVerse’s Missing Titans

Apple TV+’s Godzilla TV show can be how Legendary’s MonsterVerse finally shows off its missing Titans from Godzilla: King of the Monsters.

The new Godzilla TV show can be how the MonsterVerse finally reveals its missing Titans. Through four movies, Legendary’s MonsterVerse has revealed many of the giant creatures that exist in its world, but quite a few haven’t been seen yet. Several Titans have been mentioned but not shown.

They may never arrive on the big screen at all, but an opportunity may come for them to show up on the small screen instead. In addition to Netflix’s plans to make a Skull Island anime, the MonsterVerse will expand through a second TV series. It’s been confirmed that Legendary is developing a live-action MonsterVerse TV show for Apple TV+. According to the official announcement, the show will explore the fallout of the Titan battles in San Francisco and one family’s connection to Monarch. It’s assumed that Godzilla will be on hand, but what other Titans will appear remains to be seen for the time being.

Among the Titans who could have a presence in Apple TV+’s MonsterVerse show are the missing Titans from Godzilla: King of the Monsters. When Ghidorah let out his wide-reaching call, multiple creatures being observed at Monarch outposts all over the world were awakened. The movie only showed Scylla, Behemoth, Methuselah, and the third MUTO answering the call, but at least 11 more Titans heard it as well. Their names and locations were all confirmed by monitor screens featured in the movie. Some thought that at least a few of them might get cameos in Godzilla vs. Kong, but it was not to be. However, Apple TV+’s Godzilla show presents the MonsterVerse with an opportunity to finally use them. Any of these 11 mysterious Titans could make an appearance in the series.

The show could delve deep into the Titan mythos by exploring these monsters and revealing their true nature. Two of the creatures – Amhuluk and Tiamat – appeared in the Godzilla vs. Kong tie-in comic, Godzilla: Dominion, and Mokele-Mbembe was described in great detail by Godzilla: King of the Monsters novelization. But as for the rest, they’re all shrouded in mystery, with only their names, locations, and mythological connections offering clues about their identities. As things stand, there are only informed guesses about what Typhon, Bunyip, Baphomet, Yamata no Orochi, Quetzalcoatl, Leviathan, Abaddon, and Sekhmet really look like.

The show may end up including these creatures for the very reason that Godzilla: King of the Monsters needed original Titans in the first place. As director Mike Dougherty has said in the past, getting the rights to Toho properties is an expensive move, so the show going back and using established Titans from King of the Monsters feels much more feasible than the idea of seeing Godzilla crossing paths with fan-favorites like Anguirus or King Caesar. Though no additional Toho kaiju joining the MonsterVerse would be disappointing, the MonsterVerse using its new Godzilla show to finally unveil its mystery Titans would be a welcome development.
